This is stage one... The foundation. A floor framed out of 2X8s. I was so fortunate to have the kids help me prime and paint it to protect it from ground water.

Stage three... Here I am installing the roof. Plywoood on top of a 2X8 frame for a future second story deck, complete with ladder, rock climbing wall, slide, monkey bars and swings.
Stage four... Putting up the exterior plywood walls. Typically after the roof is on and the walls are up, insulation would go inside, but who needs warmth?

Stage five... Priming and painting. Boy, was this fun! The kids ended up covered in paint! By the end of the day, Tacey had managed to paint her hair.

And finally the finished product. A smurfy new, Dinoco blue playhouse. (You should have seen Tacey after we painted the blue! She had a huge glob of blue paint covering her forehead and all through the front of her hair. I thought her hair might stay blue for the next three weeks! I missed the picture.)
So, we now have a playhouse! YAY! The kids are thrilled. All that is left is to furnish it and build the accessories sometime in the future.
The color is incredibly bright, the pictures don't quite do it justice. All I can think of when I look at it is, "Laa laa lala laa laa laa lalalaaa...." The funny thing is that the kids don't even know what the Smurfs are. They have never seen that cartoon. But, somehow I managed to get them to agree on "Dinoco" blue, from the movie "Cars." I had to preface the decision by saying that orange and pink were not allowed, since I knew they would both want their favorite colors. (I bet you can't guess which color is whose favorite.)

Whoever designed that thing is a genius. All joking aside, it was actually a fun week building and painting that beast with you. Thank goodness we had the kids to help or I don't think we ever would have finished. For anyone who reads this comment you have to know Sunny to appreciate the picture of her on the roof. He is very afraid of heights and she was very reluctant about getting up there. She did and realized that as long as you are sitting down that it really wasn't that bad. Great job baby!
It was fun to work on it. That is one of the things that I find refreshing and unusual about our relationship, we can work together without killing each other. And we've managed to prove that time after time. Another way in which we are modeled after your parents.
Dude, that's sweet. Can I play in it? :) Great job! I'm very impressed.
Sure! The kids would love to have a playdate!
