Since we knew that Taylor would, in fact, be attending school, we even knew the school, we were just unsure of when and who, he got to go school shopping. In fact, he got two special trips. First, Grandma took him. He got to choose the stores they went to, pick out clothes and shoes that he wanted for school and pick where they went to dinner, which was of course Taco Bell, his favorite restaurant. (The kid will put away three cheese quesadillas from there!) I know, you are thinking Grandma is one lucky grandma!
Then, he got his annual trip with Mommy. Since I was trying to be efficient, we did this on the next to last day of our vacation, along with getting haircuts. This is the shopping trip that he gets to pick out his school supplies. Since we didn't get the letter explaining what he needed yet, as we were on vacation, I just got some basic things, thinking that if he needed others we would get them Sunday, before school started. He got to pick out his "First Day of School" outfit, his backpack (Cars, of course), a lunch box and thermos and some other things. He was also sweet enough to pick out an adorable pink dress with black polka dots on a poodle skirt for his little sister.
We had such a nice afternoon together. I really do cherish those rare one-on-one times with my kids; those times when we get to do something special together.

Man, I really miss back-to-school shopping. Why can't I have my mom buy me a whole new wardrobe every fall anymore? Those were the days.
The best was getting it all home and trying it all on again, in a mini-fashion show. Remember knowing exactly what stellar outfit you were going to wear on the first day? So exciting!
It's fun being on the other side of it now, to see how excited they get! It's cute.
